Not every gathering needs a ballroom. Some just need six private acres, a long table, a glowing fire and the right people beneath a very big sky.
The Spot was created as a place to stay, slow down and experience the high desert together. Every so often, a stay becomes something more: a wedding, an anniversary, a milestone birthday, a family reunion, a creative retreat or simply a very good reason to gather everyone you love in one place.
We host a limited number of intimate, thoughtfully planned gatherings throughout the year. Each one begins with a private stay at The Spot and unfolds naturally across the house and surrounding landscape.
Cool Stuff with Cool People
You won’t find a ballroom, banquet carpet or a list of mandatory packages here.
Instead, you’ll find a warm, modern house overlooking Smith Rock, open land with room to wander, gathering spaces beneath the sky, a pond, a fire pit, a hot tub and an observatory waiting for darkness.
The Spot isn’t meant for every kind of event—and that is precisely what makes gatherings here feel different. We welcome celebrations that are personal, relaxed and connected to the place around them. The landscape does most of the decorating. The people do the rest.
Make A Day of it
Or better yet, make a weekend of it.
A gathering here doesn’t have to begin when the chairs are arranged or end when dinner is over.
Wake up together and drink coffee while the morning light moves across the cliffs. Spend the afternoon hiking, climbing, swimming, cooking or doing very little at all. Gather for a ceremony, a shared meal or cocktails as the sun goes down. Then move toward the fire, climb into the hot tub or open the observatory and see what is happening several million light-years away.
Without a strict check-in-and-check-out event schedule, there is time for the quieter moments too—the unplanned breakfast, the walk after dinner, the conversation that continues long after everyone was supposed to go to bed.
Those are often the moments people remember.
